ABOUT ME

A CREATIVE MIND IN MOTION.

I’m Steve Garcia, an Executive Creative Director, brand strategist and lifelong maker.

For more than 20 years, I’ve built a career around curiosity. I’ve worked across design, motion, animation, production, directing, branding and strategy, following each discipline far enough to understand how it contributes to the bigger picture.

Today, I lead creative teams and ideas, but I’ve never lost the part of me that wants to understand how something was made, why it works and whether there’s a better way to do it.

THE MAKER

I’VE ALWAYS BEEN A MAKER.

I’ve always been curious about how things are made, and that curiosity has shaped my career.

I started in motion design, building on a foundation in graphic design, animation and visual storytelling. Over time, I expanded into visual effects, editing, photography, video production and directing. I wanted to understand the entire creative process, not just the part I was responsible for.

Every new discipline gave me a different way to approach a problem and a better understanding of what it takes to bring an idea to life.

That hands-on experience still shapes the way I lead.

I know what it feels like to stare at a blank artboard, spend hours in an edit, solve problems on set or figure out how to make an ambitious idea work within a very real deadline.

It’s given me a deep respect for the craft and, more importantly, the people behind it.

THE JOURNEY

BUILT ONE CHAPTER AT A TIME.

I didn’t set out with a plan to become an Executive Creative Director.

After earning my degree in motion design, I started my career in broadcast television at Univision and WPLG Local 10 (ABC), creating graphics, news packages and promotional campaigns. Those early years taught me how to tell stories visually, think on my feet and deliver under pressure.

From there, I moved into sports as a Senior Graphic Designer at FOX Sports, combining my creative interests with my passion for sports. Along the way, my work earned three Emmy Awards, but the people I worked with and the experiences we shared were just as valuable.

My next chapter took me to Dallas, where I joined 900lbs of Creative, a startup interactive marketing agency. I moved beyond traditional broadcast into interactive experiences, emerging technologies and larger creative projects, eventually becoming Director of Visual Content.

Going independent brought a different perspective. Beyond the creative, I was now building client relationships, collaborating with agencies, managing budgets and learning the business behind the work.

Those experiences eventually brought me to Sinclair, where my role evolved into leading multidisciplinary teams, developing campaigns, shaping brand strategy and tackling larger creative and business challenges.

Looking back, the progression makes sense.

At the time, I was mostly following the next thing I wanted to learn.

CREATIVE LEADERSHIP

BIGGER QUESTIONS. BETTER WORK.

Today, I spend more time asking questions than pushing pixels.

What are we actually trying to accomplish? Who are we trying to reach? Is this the right idea? Are we solving the right problem? And does everything we’re making connect back to it?

I lead multidisciplinary teams and projects across branding, advertising, video, design, motion, digital and branded content. My role is less about having every answer and more about creating the conditions for good ideas to happen.

I believe in giving people clear direction without telling them exactly how to get there. I believe in protecting strong ideas when they’re worth fighting for and letting go of my own when someone brings a better one.

I don’t need the best idea in the room to be mine.

I just want to make sure we recognize it when we see it.

WORK ISN’T THE WHOLE STORY

SOME MOMENTS JUST STAND OUT.

I’ve spent a lot of my career around sports, which has occasionally put me in some pretty ridiculous situations.

Like throwing out a first pitch at a Marlins game.

Or catching a foul ball on a live broadcast.

Neither made the résumé.

Both definitely made the website.

LET’S TALK

STILL CURIOUS?

If you’re working on something interesting, want to talk creative, or just want to say hello, I’d love to hear from you.
