THE ROAD TO THE COURT

A branded road trip through Indianapolis brought together Matt Leinart, Jerry Ferrara, and WNBA All-Star Aliyah Boston, connecting Nissan with basketball culture through original storytelling.

THE OPPORTUNITY

MEET FANS WHERE THE GAME LIVES

Nissan wanted to connect with sports audiences through content that felt authentic to the way fans experience the game.

With WNBA All-Star Weekend bringing national attention to Indianapolis, we saw an opportunity to create something beyond a traditional vehicle commercial. The challenge was to showcase Nissan's capabilities while giving audiences a reason to watch, engage, and follow along.

THE IDEA

TURN THE DRIVE INTO THE STORY

We partnered with Throwbacks hosts Matt Leinart and Jerry Ferrara to create a branded road trip through Indianapolis during WNBA All-Star Weekend.

Behind the wheel of the Nissan Pathfinder Rock Creek, the hosts explored the city before picking up WNBA All-Star Aliyah Boston for a ride to the arena.

What began as a conversation about the vehicle evolved into a story about basketball, ambition, and the next generation of athletes. Nissan became a natural part of the experience, connecting the brand to the personalities and moments that make sports meaningful.

THE WORK

BRINGING THE ROAD TRIP TO LIFE

From scripting through production, I led the creative development of The Road to the Court, shaping the story around Nissan, the Throwbacks hosts, and WNBA All-Star Aliyah Boston.

I developed the script and directed the on-location shoot in Indianapolis, bringing together cinematic driving footage, natural conversations, and moments that connected the vehicle to the experience.

The production required coordinating talent, vehicle-mounted cameras, multiple locations, and a tight filming schedule while maintaining a consistent creative vision.

The result was an original branded content experience that integrated Nissan into the story without losing the personality and authenticity of Throwbacks.

THE REACH

Taking the story beyond the road.

The experience extended beyond the original film through social content distributed across Throwbacks and partner channels. Short-form videos brought Nissan, the hosts, and Aliyah Boston to audiences across multiple platforms, extending the campaign's visibility beyond WNBA All-Star Weekend.
